How did we work out these dates?

We counted back from each holiday using our normal shipping times. Orders leave us within 1–2 business days, and standard delivery usually takes 4–9 business days after you order. Weekends and Thanksgiving Day don't count as business days.

These are estimates, not carrier guarantees. Once a package leaves us, the carrier controls when it arrives.

Carriers slow down in December. Holiday volume can add days to normal transit times, especially in the last two weeks before Christmas.
Rural addresses take longer. If the gift is going to a small town or a rural route, add a few extra days.
Weather can delay trucks and planes. A winter storm anywhere along the route can hold a package up.

Our advice is simple: order earlier when you can. If a gift must be there on a specific day, aim for a week before the standard date.

How can I make sure a gift arrives on time?

Ship straight to the recipient. Enter the child's or family's address at checkout, so the gift doesn't need a second trip through the mail.
Don't worry about the receipt. Our packing slips show no prices, so the box can go straight under the tree.
Add a gift message. Write a short note at checkout so the recipient knows who it's from, even if it arrives before you call.
Double-check the address. A missing apartment number or an old address can cost days you don't have.
Group gifts going to one home. US orders over $69 ship free, so books for siblings at the same address can travel in one order.

What if I miss the order date?

You still have good options. A late gift can be a second small celebration, and some of the best gifts for children don't ship at all.
